animation resources

The New York Film Academy
The New York Film Academy is the premier destination for individuals seeking a future career in 3D animation and visual effects, and their LA center offers accredited degrees taught by exceptional instructors with real-world experience.

AWN
One of the best sources around for animation industry news, reviews and tips.

ASIFA
If you’re an animator, you should be a member of ASIFA, and if you’re on the east coast, ASIFA-East is for you.  On the west coast, ASIFA-Hollywood runs an absolutely priceless library, museum and archive of animation.

Animation Mentor
I know one of the mentors on this site, and if the rest are as good as him, then sign up now–you’ll learn a ton.

The Animator’s Survival Kit
Richard Williams is one of the best, and his book The Animator’s Survival Kit is a must have for anyone interested in being an animator.  And who knows, after you’ve done a few high-paying jobs, you may want to step up to the DVD set!

Eadweard Muybridge
Besides The Illusion of Life, and Williams’ book, Muybridge’s photos are my go-to reference while animating.

Cartoon Brew
I don’t always agree with the Cartoon Brew editors’ point of view, but there’s always an interesting post or conversation to be found here.
