140 and counting!

A new year, and 140 drawings into the experiment. Our findings to date:

Having. So. Much. Fun.

Some folks I know are prolific and dedicated sketchbook-keepers. Me? I love notebooks. Buy ’em. Carry ’em around. But always seem to come to the end of the day without having added anything to ’em.

Until now.

With a simple and achievable goal, I’m drawing more than I have in years. Just a drawing a day: No over-thinking. No getting precious. No judgments. (Well, some judgments. There are some stinkers in there.)

But trying not to judge. Instead, I’m having a tremendous time just enjoying the feeling of complete creative freedom. Just playing.

The only thing I really need to change is how much time I’m spending on each drawing. Gotta keep it simple, and try not to eat up too much of my time at the drawing board each day–after all, there are storyboards to draw, animations to finish, and pitches to write as well. I may also need to start archiving the drawings, perhaps by year. Maybe collect them into pdf files or books. At some point, I’ll need to do some research on publishing.

On a bright note I’ve found that I’ve really primed the creative pump. As the days and drawings pile up, its getting easier. So I’m looking forward to more. More days. More drawings. More play.

Maybe I’ll break out those notebooks, too.

You keep creating, too. Would love to see what you’re playing around with.
